Why Camp Utopia?
We believe one yoga class can change a life.
We believe regular yoga can keep it changing.
We believe yoga is growing; millions of people will try it in the next few years.
We believe all those people deserve good teachers.
We believe the best teachers are skillful, safe, knowledgeable, kind, ethical, confident and authentic.
We believe most of those things can be taught, explored and encouraged to blossom.
We believe good teaching includes lots of practice teaching, so our training program includes lots.
We believe good teachers have a deep understanding of how the body works, so we make sure you do.
We believe good teachers deserve good careers, so we make sure you have lots of exposure to lots of options. We work hard to create opportunity for you.
We believe training should be interesting and fun.
We believe it should be based on experience.
We believe it should be practical, professional, useful.
We believe in each other, and our trainees.
We believe we are making the world a better place.
We believe everyone can benefit from yoga.
We believe everyone needs it.
We believe you can have whatever you want.
We believe that helping you helps everyone.
We're focused on your success.
If you want to teach - to become the best teacher you can be, and reach enough people that you can live on teaching, and still pursue your spiritual path, give Camp Utopia a look. Many yoga schools have big yoga stars or gurus at the top. And gurus are great, but many have a background in practice and philosophy, not business and marketing and education. You need skills, self-discipline, a plan, and some very basic marketing tactics to make a life teaching yoga, without burning out or selling out. Camp Utopia can provide you all of that AND the practice and philosophy too. The creator of our program, Helen Stutchbury, has been doing yoga all of her life, and with passion and direction since 2002. She comes with a 20 year background in education, marketing, and business, created and managed a massive teacher training program for a high tech hot yoga system in Dallas, and has taught thousands of classes. Helen owns a thriving, self-made yoga business.
We’re not fancy, but we’re professional and knowledgeable. We’re not celebrities, but the work is rock solid. We are hard working yoga teachers from the real world, with a passion for advanced education and teaching excellence, compassion for the needs of all yoga students, and for the teachers we send out in the world to teach them. If you want to be a really good yoga teacher,
you might want to talk to Camp U.

Helen Stutchbury, E-RYT500
Helen is a hands-on teacher who brings a ton of information, energy, and joy to her teaching. Helen’s classes include students from 13 - 83, and keeping all of them strong and challenged led to her unique focus and technique, and her success working with seniors and injuries. Helen is also one of the developers of TreeYoga™, a fun and deeply strengthening outdoor yoga practice, done in trees. She first tried yoga at the age of 3, and became a teacher in 2005. Helen developed and ran a teacher training program in Dallas for 3 years, before leaving to get back to a more natural way of life. Through 2008 and 2009, she developed the Camp Utopia teacher training program here in Wimberley. Helen owns and teaches The Yoga You Need.
