Scholarship 1: San Miguel de Allende, Summer 2015

In the summer of 2015, Helen took one yoga teacher on a trip to the incredible city of San Miguel de Allende in the cool mountains of Mexico, with TravelPhile Tours and a group of 30 guests. Morning and afternoon yoga classes on the roof top deck made the week a lovely getaway for the guests, and a great training opportunity. A week with Helen meant lots of one on one time for Jeanne to discuss her studies and deepen her practice of living as a yogi, and professional yoga teacher. An easy going vacation + yoga environment allowed behind-the-scenes time with the tour operator, hotel owner, and kitchen staff for an invaluable learning opportunity, for retreats Jeanne plans to host in the future. In our experience, Helen's students - enthusiastic but low key yogis of the “senior” variety needed a unique blend of pick-me-up and take-it-easy - enough to create a lovely holiday for them, rather than a full on yoga retreat. Still, the combination of teaching yoga on the rooftop, studying how to feed, nurture and entertain groups of people, and experiencing the ease of a typical yoga vacation from the point of view of both teacher and guest provided ample material for Jeanne to learn and grow.
